Peranakan Cuisine
When you think of Melaka food, you cannot forget the Peranakan food,
known simply as ‘Nyonya’ food. The Nyonya style of cooking is a fusion of spicy and sweet, which mixes
Chinese and Malay ingredients and recipes.
Among the signature Peranakan dishes are the sweet-spicy assam laksa,
curry kapitan chicken, assam curry fish, satay celup, and sweet bubur cha-cha, to name a few. Most of the
dishes gain their trademark taste with a hint of coconut milk.
